Plymouth’s Evening Herald: “Sutton Harbour Holdings threaten to sue campaign group Viable”

22 December 2012 Viable front page HeraldIn the run up to Christmas 2012 one of the Herald’s recent front-page articles concerned legal action contemplated by Sutton Harbour Holdings against Viable – a local campaign group seeking to re-activate Plymouth’s City airport which was closed just over a year ago.

Viable’s aims are ‘ … to secure the airport for its proper commercial aviation purpose; to grow public, business and political support for the airport; to communicate and evidence the facts that the airport is valuable and is viable; and to set up a long term ‘watchdog’ to make sure that this needless situation never arises again’.

Sutton Harbour Holdings own the closed airport and have threatened to bring legal proceedings against Viable relating to comments made on Viable’s website.

Viable director Raoul Witherall said the company was prepared to see the issue dealt with in court.  He said; ‘ …are we going to pack up and go home? I don’t think so … we will fight and take it to trial’.

He said the materials at the centre of the dispute had been removed from Viable’s website “as a precaution” but added: ‘ … We intend to reinstate them. We will put them back up; we are not retracting’.

Viable has instructed Enigma to deal with the threats of legal action.
