New Dawn over Plymouth

Professional photographer Peter Russell was engaged by Enigma Solicitors to record dawn over the new firm on 30 October 2010. With the kind assistance of Mark Parkman, access was gained to the top of St Matthias Church on North Hill at sunrise. One of Mr Russell’s photographs is shown below; please click on the image to enlarge it.

Irish legend has it that rainbows are a sign of luck, with the rainbow in the distance being a good luck symbol for the new firm.

The Enigma Solicitors signs have been added by image manipulation by Mr Russell but show the expected appearance of the floodlit signage to be erected later this month.

Enigma Solicitors join Legal Sector Alliance

Enigma Solicitors have joined the Legal Sector Alliance.

The Legal Sector Alliance is an inclusive movement of law firms and organisations committed to working collaboratively to take action on climate change by reducing their carbon footprint and adopting environmentally sustainable practices.

The Prince of Wales said of the Legal Sector Alliance: “Climate change is the greatest challenge facing mankind today and we only have a very small window of opportunity to act. By collaborating to share best-practices in sustainable business, the legal sector can make a positive contribution to combating climate change.”

Baseball’s World Series and office décor

The San Francisco Giants beat the Texas Rangers on Monday night to win baseball’s World Series.

Enigma Solicitors’ Rory Smith is a huge baseball fan, with his office decked out in Boston Red Sox memorabilia, including a signed shirt of Coco Crisp, authenticated infield dirt from Fenway Park and photographs ranging from Boston legend Ted Williams to current superstar Dustin Pedroia.

He is also the proud owner of a ball signed by Doug Mientkiewicz, who previously played for the Red Sox and got the last man out to enable the Red Sox to win the 2004 World Series, their first World Series win since 1918.

Enigma Solicitors’ blog named Roll on Friday’s “favourite new firm blog”

Roll on Friday, a website that provides news, views and gossip on law firms, has named Enigma Solicitorsblog as its “favourite new firm blog” on its Twitter page.

Roll on Friday styles itself as “the World’s leading legal community site” whose message boards are the “voice of the legal community (or at least the bits of it that try to get out of the office occasionally).”

Enigma Solicitors’ smashing pumpkins

Many people throw out the flesh and seeds of a pumpkin after carving them for Hallowe’en.

What a waste!

While stocks last, Enigma Solicitors are offering their clients a slice of homemade pumpkin pie with a cup of coffee this week.

Roasted pumpkin seeds, dusted with paprika, are also available.

Introducing Enigma Solicitors’ limited edition cocktail

For Enigma Solicitors’ launch party on Friday 29th October, Rory Smith, one of Enigma’s partners, designed a cocktail in the firm’s signature colours.

The drink consists of three separate layers. The red layer contains a shot of Campari, a mascharino cherry and a splash of sugar syrup. The glass is then packed with ice. The middle layer of the glass contains sweet Vermouth and soda water. Black vodka is floated on the top of the drink to create the final layer of colour.

The trick is of course to pour each layer carefully to keep the colours separate and avoid creating what would look like alcoholic Vimto!
